Sunday's Third Baseman Value Rankings

Chris Humphreys / USA TODAY Sports

Here are theScore's third baseman value rankings for Sunday, June 19 (all stats exclude Saturday's games):

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Nolan Arenado (COL) at MIA 9
Matt Carpenter (STL) vs. TEX 9
Josh Donaldson (TOR) at BAL 8

With an oddly low cost and an intriguing matchup, Arenado and his league-leading 20 round trippers are a staple in all formats. He's been more patient at the dish this season, and opposing pitchers are respecting his power, as his BB% has increased by almost five percent this season and is striking out a career-low 10.6 percent of the time.

Carpenter has hits in 10 straight games and though the counting stats have yet to reflect his recent hot streak, he still returned value with five extra-base hits and one homer. The power surge should come sooner rather than later, and when it does, the return will be enormous. He's a safe option.

Donaldson is the priciest option at the hot corner on Sunday, and rightly so. In his last eight meetings with the Orioles, Donaldson has crushed two homers and is slugging a fantastic .625 with eight runs scored in as many games.

Mid-Tier Targets

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Adrian Beltre (TEX) at STL 7
Kris Bryant (CHC) vs. PIT 7
Jake Lamb (ARI) at PHI 7
Martin Prado (MIA) vs. COL 6
Jefry Marte (LAA) at OAK 6
Evan Longoria (TB) vs. SF 6
Jhonny Peralta (STL) vs. TEX 6
Jung Ho Kang (PIT) at CHC 6
Kyle Seager (SEA) at BOS 6
Nick Castellanos (DET) at KC 6
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) vs. NYY 6
Danny Valencia (OAK) vs. LAA 6
Anthony Rendon (WAS) at SD 5
Travis Shaw (BOS) vs. SEA 5
Yunel Escobar (LAA) at OAK 5
Wilmer Flores (NYM) vs. ATL 5

After sitting out seven games with a hamstring strain, Beltre picked up right where he left off with back-to-back multi-hit games that saw him go 5-for-9 with one extra-base hit and two RBIs. DFS owners shouldn't be too concerned about his extremely low .273 BABIP, as he is likely to go on a well-known second-half power surge and increase that number.

An outrageously high price point should result in a low-ownership percentage for the light-hitting Prado, who only has two homers on the season. He has filled in admirably as the table-setter for the Marlins, however, sporting an exceptional .369 OBP.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Todd Frazier (CWS) at CLE 4
Maikel Franco (PHI) vs. ARI 4
Aaron Hill (MIL) at LAD 3
Eugenio Suarez (CIN) vs. HOU 3
Jurickson Profar (TEX) at STL 3
Matt Duffy (SF) at TB 3
Jose Ramirez (CLE) vs. CWS 3
Marwin Gonzalez (HOU) vs. CIN 3
Justin Turner (LAD) vs. MIL 3

Frazier is 0-for-15 in his last four contests, striking out six times and walking just once. If he doesn't have his over-the-fence pop, he has little-to-no value in DFS.

Despite the emergence of Odubel Herrera, Franco is limited in RBI opportunities, with the Phillies as a team owning a bottom-feeding .282 OBP. There are better options at the hot corner on Sunday, so it's best to fade Franco.
