Top Options
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Jake Peavy (SF) | at OAK | 9 |
Carlos Martinez (STL) | vs. KC | 8 |
Danny Salazar (CLE) | at ATL | 8 |
Yovani Gallardo (BAL) | at SD | 8 |
Peavy has posted a 1.91 ERA over his last six starts, and he has a cushy matchup against the Athletics at pitcher-friendly O.co Coliseum. Oakland's team wOBA against righties of .298 is the worst in the American League. The veteran right-hander has a very affordable salary thanks to his early-season struggles.
After scuffling in the the month of May, Martinez has found his groove once again. He has a 1.24 ERA in 36 1/3 innings over his last five starts. He will face a Royals lineup which is worse against right-handed pitching compared to lefties.
Gallardo can be taken as a cheap SP2 in two-pitcher formats. He hasn't been great this year, but the crafty righty should be able to sift his way to a quality start against the Padres. San Diego is dead last in the majors when it comes to wOBA versus right-handers.
Mid-Tier Targets
NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
---|---|---|
Aaron Sanchez (TOR) | at COL | 7 |
Max Scherzer (WAS) | vs. NYM | 7 |
Kyle Hendricks (CHC) | at CIN | 7 |
Archie Bradley (ARI) | vs. PHI | 7 |
Junior Guerra (MIL) | vs. LAD | 6 |
Tom Koehler (MIA) | at DET | 6 |
Masahiro Tanaka (NYY) | vs. TEX | 5 |
Daniel Norris (DET) | vs. MIA | 5 |
Sanchez receives a dramatic price drop with his matchup against the Rockies in Coors Field. Yet, for a pitcher who relies heavily on a mid-upper-90s sinking fastball, Sanchez should be affected by the thin atmosphere less than others. The right-hander's 2.89 GB/FB rate is the best among all qualified starters.

Matt Moore (TB) | vs. BOS | 3 |
Ricky Nolasco (MIN) | at CWS | 3 |
Jered Weaver (LAA) | vs. HOU | 3 |
Dallas Keuchel (HOU) | at LAA | 3 |
Edinson Volquez (KC) | at STL | 2 |
Cody Reed (CIN) | vs. CHC | 2 |
Tyler Anderson (COL) | vs. TOR | 2 |
Casey Kelly (ATL) | vs. CLE | 1 |
Price was absolutely lit up in his previous start, lasting just 2 1/3 innings against the Texas Rangers. With a matchup against his former club, Price's salary is still among those in the elite tier. Yet, Tampa owns the best wOBA against left-handers in the majors this season.
