Watch: Skydiver plummets 25,000 feet without parachute
Luke Aikins, a 42-year-old skydiver, made history Saturday when he became the first person ever to successfully jump without a parachute.
Aikins, who had 18,000 jumps under his belt, according to The Associated Press, pulled off the death-defying stunt at the Big Sky movie ranch in California, where a giant net was set up to catch the daredevil after his 25,000-foot free fall.
"I'm almost levitating, it's incredible," said Aikins, whose jump was broadcast live on FOX for a special called "Stride Gum Presents Heaven Sent."
The two-minute hair-raising fall almost didn't go off as planned, after the Screen Actors Guild apparently told him just as he was boarding his plane that he had to wear a parachute.
