Daily Fantasy Dose: The Cardinals will see red against the Brewers' Wily Peralta

Here's a look at the daily fantasy picture for Tuesday, August 30:

Top Stacking Options

  • St. Louis Cardinals (at Brewers): While not much more than "Wily Peralta is starting for the Brewers" is needed, consider just how good Matt Carpenter, specifically, has been against him. Carpenter is 18-for-38 (.474) with three home runs and more walks than strikeouts. Anticipate more of the same and pair him with his high-upside teammates.

3-player stack: Carpenter, Brandon Moss, Stephen Piscotty
5-player stack: Yadier Molina, Carpenter, Moss, Jedd Gyorko, Piscotty

  • Atlanta Braves (vs. Padres): Padres SP Edwin Jackson has allowed 13 earned runs over his last nine innings pitched. It doesn't matter that the Braves have generally struggled this season; they have enough pop to be worthy of consideration as a contrarian lineup stack with savings still coming in the form of SS Dansby Swanson.

3-player stack: Freddie Freeman, Swanson, Matt Kemp
5-player stack: Freeman, Adonis Garcia, Swanson, Kemp, Ender Inciarte

  • Minnesota Twins (at Indians): The Indians have outperformed expectations, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to exploit SP Josh Tomlin and his elevated 2.10 HR/9. Tomlin has lost five consecutive starts, has allowed at least one home run in every start since June 4 (14 starts) and has gone without allowing a homer just twice in 24 starts.

3-player stack: Joe Mauer, Brian Dozier, Max Kepler
5-player stack: Mauer, Dozier, Trevor Plouffe, Kepler, Robbie Grossman

Bargain Plays

  • SP Adam Wainwright, Cardinals (at Brewers): An uneven season should see one of its high points Tuesday as Wainwright could hit double digit Ks for the first time this season. The Brewers have struck out more than any other team and fanned 13 times in six innings against Carlos Martinez on Monday.
  • OF Kole Calhoun, Angels (vs. Reds): While not a bargain basement option, Calhoun is curiously inexpensive for the production he has offered this season. He has slashed .256/.370/.410 over his last 10 games, and the bulk of his power has come against RHPs. With Reds RHP Tim Adleman posting a 1.84 HR/9 and a .304 batting average against to lefties, Calhoun is a great option.
  • 1B Xavier Scruggs, Marlins (at Mets): Going an alternate roster route by looking for savings at first base via Scruggs will allow spending up for players like Brian Dozier at second base. Scruggs is 4-for-7 over the last two games with two doubles, two RBIs and a pair of walks. Scruggs also hit 21 home runs in 93 Triple-A games this season.

Contrarian Options

  • Jason Heyward, Cubs (vs. Pirates): It's impossible to wash away the stink associated with Heyward's first season in Chicago. Still, he's riding an eight-game hitting streak, so a late flourish is possible. While price and ownership remain low, Heyward should be targeted in favorable matchups like the one he has against rookie Pirates SP Chad Kuhl.
  • SP Tyler Anderson, Rockies (vs. Dodgers): Don't underestimate just how bad the Dodgers have been against LHPs. As a team, the Dodgers have managed just a .641 OPS against lefties. Anderson, starting at home in Colorado, seems counter-intuitive to DFS, but he has actually managed a 3.45 ERA at home over 10 games and 57 1/3 innings.
  • SS Corey Seager, Dodgers (at Rockies): With a lefty on the mound Tuesday and a hand injury taking him out of Monday's game, Seager could conceivably sit against the Rockies. If not, he's the one player on the Dodgers worth trusting without hesitation. He isn't even too strongly compromised by LHPs (.278 average) like the rest of his team.
