There's more to sports than winning, as the junior varsity football team from The Woodlands High School in Texas showed last Thursday.
The team was within reach of its first victory of the season, trailing Tompkins 29-28 in the final seconds of the game, when an opposing player went down with a serious injury and had to be taken to a local hospital. Instead of going for the win, The Woodlands decided to take a knee.
"It was a very teachable moment for both teams to remember the moment you take a stand for what's greater for humanity not what the scoreboard says," David Colschen, The Woodlands coach, told Bob Slovak of ABC 13.
