Postgame handshakes turned into an all-out brawl after Fort Lauderdale, Fla.'s St. Thomas Aquinas High School defeated Dwyer 37-0 in a Class 7A regional semifinal football game on Friday night.
The two teams were lined up to shake hands when the fight broke out, according to Wells Dusenbury of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. St. Thomas Aquinas coach Roger Harriott said the brawl started after a Dwyer player threw a punch at one of his defensive backs, Asante Samuel.
Police officers, coaches, and administrators eventually intervened, but a second fight broke out shortly after. Dwyer players were then escorted to their team buses while their belongings were retrieved from the locker room.
