Stafford, wife visit family of slain Detroit police officer
Matthew Stafford may not have done enough to garner a Pro Bowl spot, but the Detroit Lions quarterback certainly has won over the city in which he plays.
Stafford and his wife, Kelly, paid a visit to the family of fallen police officer Myron Jarrett, who was killed during a hit-and-run at a traffic stop in October. The Staffords delivered Christmas gifts to Jarrett's wife and four children.
Because the Lions play Dec. 26, Stafford will be too busy Christmas morning, but he wanted to make sure the family got an early start on their first holiday season without their husband and father.
"Matthew Stafford and his wife are so sweet and he's so down to earth. He's such a regular guy, I didn't know," Sacha Jarrett, Myron's widow, told FOX 2 Detroit. "He came to my home, he seemed like he was very comfortable there he communicated with my kids and I just appreciate what they did for my family this Christmas."
Stafford also participated in a silent auction along with several Detroit area athletes to help support the Jarrett family.
