Back in South America after an early crack at European football, Miguel Borja arrived in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Friday to an ocean of green shirts at Guarulhos International Airport.

Borja joined SE Palmeiras from Atletico Nacional on Thursday, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract. According to Globo Esporte's Felipe Zito and Tossiro Neto, the Colombian forward's transfer is valued at USD $10.5 million, with the Brazilian club earning 70 percent of the player's rights.

When supporters caught their first glimpse of Borja in Sao Paulo, Guarulhos International Airport turned into a mosh pit.

In 2013, Borja joined AS Livorno Calcio on loan from Cortulua. Although the move became permanent, eight Serie A appearances - all of which as a substitute - was the extent of his time in Italian football. He returned to the club from Colombia last year and went on score 19 goals in 21 games, earning a move to Nacional, where his career finally took off.

After scoring twice on his debut for Nacional in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals, Borja produced the winning goal in the final's second leg as El Verde defeated Independiente del Valle to add a second star to its shirt.

Palmeiras may very well be a stepping stone for Borja in his return to Europe.
