A 92-year-old was narrowly edged out by someone seven years his senior at the USA Track and Field Masters Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M., on Feb. 18.
Orville Rogers, a 99-year-old World War II veteran, won the 60-meter dash by just five-hundredths of a second over his lone competitor, Dixon Hemphill. Rogers completed the race in 18 seconds, while Hemphill finished in a time of 18.05.
"I think had I leaned a little bit, I would have won," Hemphill told Runner's World.
He'll get a rematch against Rogers in July, as both men are expected to compete at the USA Track and Field Masters Outdoor Championships, according to Kelyn Soong of The Washington Post.
