Report: Jeanie Buss asking brothers to keep her as Lakers owner for rest of life
Jeanie Buss has asked her brothers Johnny and Jim to vote to keep her as the Los Angeles Lakers controlling owner for the remainder of her life, ESPN's Ramona Shelburne reports.
Johnny and Jim Buss have reportedly already agreed to keep Jeanie on the Lakers' board of directors for at least the next year. In order for Jeanie to retain her controlling ownership, her family trust mandates that she be a member of the board.
The brothers reportedly aimed to dethrone Jeanie as team president and controlling owner earlier this month by attempting to elect a new board of directors that didn't include her. Jim and Johnny later withdrew the request after Jeanie's attorneys asked for a temporary restraining order against them, arguing that the two were breaching their fiduciary duty as trustees.
A probate trial has been set for May 15.
