Porzingis blames hacker for happy face-laden Clippers tweet

Kristaps Porzingis shared the following tweet Saturday night about the Los Angeles Clippers before promptly deleting it:

The New York Knicks big man followed up Sunday by saying his account was hacked.

He doubled down by showing everyone he doesn't even use that specific smiling emoji.

His representative told ESPN's Ian Begley earlier in the day his client was fast asleep when the controversial tweet was posted.

The 21-year-old Latvian recently wrapped up his second NBA season in N.Y., which was as full of drama as it was short of success. He skipped the team exit meeting with president Phil Jackson, and though he declined to explain why, reports suggest the decision was prompted by the club's dysfunction.

The Knicks reportedly received trade offers for the budding star, though for his part, Porzingis said he wants to remain with the Knicks - as long as they win. That said, New York owns a 63-101 record in the two campaigns since drafting the power forward fourth overall, and has missed the postseason four years in a row.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been great in the regular season, winning over 60 percent of their games and making the playoffs for six straight years. They've failed to advance past the second round over that span, though, and with several members of their core eligible to hit free agency this summer, there's no shortage of calls to blow up the team.

Even though a hacker may have been responsible for the tweet, given the uncertainty clouding the future of both squads, who would blame The Unicorn for thinking the grass might be greener in Lob City (or anywhere else)?
