Perkins says Durant, Westbrook are back on speaking terms
The biggest beef of the 2016-17 NBA season may be no more.
Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant have been feuding since last summer, when the latter left the Oklahoma City Thunder in free agency to join the Golden State Warriors.
Kendrick Perkins said he's been trying to mediate a reconciliation between his former Thunder teammates, and they made ground last month when Westbrook notched his 42nd triple-double of the season to break Oscar Robertson's record.
"The night that Russ actually broke the record, I had text KD the next day ... he sent me a text and was like, 'Hey man, me and Russ had a nice conversation the other day.' ... They're back on talking terms," Perkins said Monday night on TNT's "Area 21."
The 32-year-old followed up that surprising tidbit of information with another.
"I wouldn't be surprised if (Durant went) back to Oklahoma cause, in my opinion, I don't think Russ is going nowhere," he said.
Well, Westbrook did refer to OKC as "home" in a new ad. But would Durant return? And would Oklahomans even welcome him back?
