LaVar ups his price to $3B despite modest shoe sales
The Los Angeles Lakers weren't the only ones to benefit from the NBA draft lottery. Not only will they keep their top-three protected pick, but they'll be in a position at No. 2 to pick Lonzo Ball - which is music to LaVar Ball's ears.
The inevitable marriage of Lonzo and his hometown Lakers gives the Big Baller Brand an even bigger platform, which has in turn led LaVar Ball to raise his demand should any major sporting apparel brand return his interest in co-branding BBB.
"Now that Lonzo's headed to Los Angeles, what they should have done is give me a billion dollars and let me be on my way," LaVar said during an appearance on The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
"Now you know ... if they want to talk to me now, it just went up to $3 billion. Triple Bs, billion, billion, billion. That's the only way they going to come at me. I'm already in the building. I don't need them for nothing, as you can tell."
BBB unveiled signature sneakers for Lonzo retailing at $495 per pair in early May after his $1 billion co-branding proposal was rejected by Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
Sales have been modest to start, as LaVar revealed that only 400 to 500 pairs have been sold since the ZO2s dropped two weeks ago.
