Things quickly went from bad to worse for the Boston Celtics.

After setting an NBA playoff record for the largest halftime deficit, the Celtics were without Isaiah Thomas for the second half of Friday's Game 2 defeat to the Cleveland Cavaliers after the 5-foot-9 guard aggravated his right hip.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens revealed following the contest that Thomas initially suffered the injury in Game 6 versus the Washington Wizards, and will be re-evaluated Saturday.

The All-NBA guard has been instrumental to Boston's success in 2016-17, averaging 28.9 points, 5.9 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals on 46.3 percent shooting in the regular season.

Thomas struggled mightily in Game 2, finishing with just two points on 0-of-6 shooting, three rebounds, and six assists in 17 minutes.

Should Thomas continue to miss time going forward, backups Terry Rozier and Marcus Smart should see extended action in the Celtics' rotation.
