Report: Hawks considering Warriors staffer for president/GM
The Atlanta Hawks have added Golden State Warriors assistant general manager Travis Schlenk and Washington Wizards vice president Tommy Sheppard to the list of candidates for their vacant front-office roles, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
Schlenk has been with the Warriors since 2004, working his way up from video scout to become GM Bob Myers' right-hand man. Sheppard has worked for the Wizards for 14 years.
The Hawks have openings for a president of basketball operations and a general manager after Mike Budenholzer and Wes Wilcox resigned from their respective positions in early May. Budenholzer remains head coach, and Wilcox was reassigned within the organization.
Other reported candidates for the GM job include Rockets staffer Gersson Rosas, onetime Pistons GM Joe Dumars, and former players Chauncey Billups and Brent Barry. Atlanta was reportedly denied in its attempt to interview Portland Trail Blazers GM Neil Olshey.
