J.R. Smith slams Beal: Beat Celtics then talk about challenging Cavs
J.R. Smith is having none of Bradley Beal's smack talk.
The Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard called out his Washington counterpart, who recently proclaimed the Cavs didn't want to see the Wizards in the playoffs.
Smith took to Twitter to suggest Beal has no right to say that after Washington lost to the Boston Celtics in the East semifinals.
Smith's teammate Richard Jefferson echoed those sentiments, saying Beal shouldn't be making such statements on the heels of elimination.
"It makes headlines, but does it make sense?" the veteran asked reporters following Friday's 130-86 victory in Game 2.
The Cavs have yet to lose in these playoffs, sweeping both the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors. They've mounted a 2-0 East finals lead over the Celtics, whose best player was just ruled out for the postseason. Overall, LeBron James and Co. are riding an NBA-record 13-0 playoff win streak dating back to the 2016 Finals.
But they were afraid of the Wizards. That's rich.
