Report: Lonzo Ball considering pre-draft workout with 76ers
Lonzo Ball doesn't want to partake in a workout for the team with the No. 1 overall pick in this summer's draft. The team with the No. 3 pick, though ... well, that's a different story.
The UCLA standout is considering working out for the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told ESPN's Chris Haynes.
Now, whether that comes to fruition will reportedly depend on what comes of a conversation between Sixers general manager Bryan Colangelo and Ball's agent, Harrison Gaines. The two will meet in the coming weeks to discuss the 76ers' identity.
The concern there is that Ben Simmons, the first pick in the 2016 draft, is expected to undertake most of the ball-handling duties for Philadelphia once he's able to play following a broken right foot. That would make a potential backcourt pairing with Ball rather difficult to implement successfully.
Nonetheless, Sixers management reportedly believes Simmons and Ball can coexist at the pro level.
Lonzo's father, LaVar, said shortly after the draft lottery that his son was only going to work out for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers and no one else.
