Report: Zanik leaves Bucks, could join Cavs' front office if Billups takes over
Now-former Milwaukee Bucks assistant general manager Justin Zanik is no longer with the organization, leaving the Bucks after he was passed over for the GM job in favor of Jon Horst.
It doesn't appear Zanik will have to wait long, though, before being given another NBA job.
Chauncey Billups is a strong candidate to take over the now-leaderless Cleveland Cavaliers front office, and Zanik is a strong candidate to land a job with the Cavs if Billups does, in fact, get handed the reins, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein.
Billups' agent, Andy Miller, is the head of ASM Sports, where Zanik worked for nine years before transitioning to front-office work.
It's unclear what kind of job Zanik would be looking at with the Cavs. He could take up the same assistant GM role, or even be given the GM gig he was seeking in Milwaukee. Early indications are that Billups is being targeted as a prospective president of basketball operations for Cleveland, with the opportunity to bring in a GM to work under him.
If those plans do come to fruition, Zanik could be that guy.
