Report: Pacers, Lakers have engaged in Paul George talks
The Indiana Pacers and Los Angeles Lakers have engaged in trade talks regarding Paul George, sources told ESPN's Marc Stein and Ramona Shelburne.
The Lakers, however, refuse to part with either the No. 2 pick in Thursday's draft or Brandon Ingram, according to the report.
While the Pacers would appear to have little leverage given the leak of George's apparent intention to leave Indiana for his hometown of L.A. when he becomes a free agent next summer, rumors regarding the Cleveland Cavaliers and a possible rental market for George could push the Lakers to act now. Stein reports that the Cavs, Clippers, Rockets, and Wizards have also been in touch with Indiana regarding George.
A previous report indicated the Lakers were unprepared to trade any of their blue-chip young talent for George. However, given the circumstances, names such as Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, or D'Angelo Russell could be in play.
