KD praises Westbrook, Harden; predicts Giannis MVP win
Kevin Durant's days with the Oklahoma City Thunder may be over, but that didn't stop the reigning Finals MVP from heaping praise on some of his former teammates.
KD congratulated several of the nominees and winners from Monday night's NBA Awards on the Community section of his YouTube page, including some recognition for former longtime running mate Russell Westbrook, who was named the MVP of the 2016-17 season.
"I called out this year's MVP years ago so you gotta respect my knowledge for the game lol. Huge congrats to Russell Westbrook on MVP," wrote Durant. "That boy went out there and was a created player on (NBA) 2K all year, f--kin balled out. Gotta respect it!"
Durant also praised MVP runner-up James Harden, now a superstar with the Houston Rockets after starting his career with Durant and Westbrook in Oklahoma City.
"Shout out my boy James Harden. For five years now he's taken his game to the next level, he will be an MVP one day, he's an MVP now, he's made so many people proud," Durant wrote. "I know this firsthand, recognize what he has done for the game!"
Real recognize real.
Durant also called Giannis Antetokounmpo, who won Most Improved Player, "a specimen that we've never seen before," adding, "it's guaranteed that he will be an MVP one day!"
