Report: Jrue Holiday considering deal with Pacers

USA Today Sports

Impending free agent Jrue Holiday is reportedly interested in inking a pact with the Indiana Pacers, according to the Salt Lake Tribune's Tony Jones.

The Pacers reportedly traded franchise star Paul George to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday for a package including guard Victor Oladipo and big man Domantas Sabonis. Jeff Teague, who ran the point for the Pacers last season, is expected to depart the franchise in the offseason, potentially joining the Minnesota Timberwolves.

There are reports Holiday already has an offer on the table from the New Orleans Pelicans, the franchise he's played for since the start of the 2013-14 season.

Last year, Holiday's wife, soccer star Lauren Holiday, then six months pregnant, was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor. The Pelicans allowed Jrue Holiday to take an indefinite leave from the team while dealing with his family's hardships.

After successfully giving birth to their daughter, Lauren Holiday's tumor was removed in October. Jrue Holiday returned to action, averaging 15.4 points, 7.3 assists, and 1.5 steals in 67 appearances last season. The compassion showed by the team has been cited as a major reason why Holiday could re-sign with New Orleans on a long-term deal.

In his career, Holiday has averaged 14.3 points and 6.2 assists per game, earning a reputation as an intense on-ball defender. He was named an All-Star in 2013 while playing for the Philadelphia 76ers.
