After parting ways with Phil Jackson earlier this week, the New York Knicks remain hopeful they can trade forward Carmelo Anthony, ESPN's Ian Begley reports.
The Houston Rockets recently inquired about dealing Ryan Anderson to the Big Apple for Anthony, but New York ultimately declined the offer, league sources tell Begley.
The Knicks are reportedly looking to open up cap room this summer to lure multiple free agents, and are also considering trading Courtney Lee and Kyle O'Quinn.
Melo's wife, La La Anthony, recently revealed she would welcome a trade as long as her husband stayed near New York.
The 33-year-old averaged 22.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 0.8 steals on 43.3 percent shooting with the Knicks this past season.
