Font caps dissection of Silva de Andrade with 2nd-round submission

Rob Font made the most of his first pay-per-view billing.

After being bumped from the Fight Pass prelims to the big show on just a few hours' notice, the 30-year-old put a button on a flawless performance by trapping Douglas Silva de Andrade with a guillotine choke 4:36 into Round 2 of their bantamweight bout at UFC 213 in Las Vegas on Saturday. The win was Font's second straight by stoppage.

The pair were once scheduled to square off at UFC 175 three years ago, and Font submitted a career-best showing to tie up the longstanding loose end.

It didn't take long for Font to settle into boxing range and tune de Andrade up, as he found a home for his 1-2 and made sure to crack the Brazilian with knees to the body any time they clinched.

The Massachusetts native maintained respect for de Andrade's knockout-riddled resume as he nestled into a groove, expertly slipping his foe's counters once his combinations hit paydirt.

An overhand right courtesy of Font proved to be the beginning of the end for the Brazilian in the second round, as the strike cost him his footing and allowed Font to swarm him with more bombs and score an easy takedown.

De Andrade valiantly fought his way back to his feet and lifted Font for a takedown of his own, only for Font to snatch his exposed neck on the way down and put the squeeze on it for the fight-ending guillotine.

"D'Silva" sees a two-fight win streak snapped and his UFC record fall to an even 2-2 with his first career loss by stoppage.
