Ray immediately fell to the ground clutching his head after the impact. After being tended to by trainers, the 25-year-old sat up and held a towel to his head as a medical cart carried him off the field.
Arizona later announced Ray was sent to the hospital for further testing, though he remained alert throughout the ordeal.

After the incident, Voit walked over to Ray to make sure the Diamondbacks pitcher was alright.
