Suggs on potential Kaepernick signing: 'Hell yeah,' if he helps Ravens win

While the Ravens' front office appears conflicted about the possibility of signing Colin Kaepernick, weighing the off-field ramifications of such a move, some Baltimore players have no such hangups.

Veteran pass-rusher Terrell Suggs said Sunday that Kaepernick would be welcomed into the locker room.

"Hell yeah, if he's going to help us win," Suggs told ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "We have no issues. Not in the locker room. Hell yeah, we want him."

Steve Bisciotti said Sunday the Ravens have been in "direct discussions" with Kaepernick following the news of Joe Flacco's back injury.

Bisciotti also admitted his team is torn on Kaepernick, and is seeking outside counsel on the matter, even consulting former Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

"We're very sensitive to it, and we're monitoring it, and we're trying to figure out what's the right tact," Bisciotti said, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. "So pray for us."

While some fans may take issue with the signing of Kaepernick, Suggs isn't the only Raven on board with bringing him in.

"I would love to have him to come challenge some other quarterbacks," defensive back Lardarius Webb said. "We all know Joe is our guy. We love Mallett. But yeah, we all would like competition around here to make everyone better."

"This locker room is one where everybody has a respect for other people when they don't have the same point of view," tight end Ben Watson said. "There are a lot of strong personalities. One thing I noticed before I got to the Ravens, I heard the Ravens organization would allow you to be yourself. That's the culture that's here."

"Colin can play," safety Tony Jefferson said. "The guy can make plays. He's fast. He has a great arm. I would love to have him."

Kaepernick has met with one team this offseason, the Seahawks, but Seattle signed Austin Davis instead.

The former San Francisco 49ers pivot's continued unemployment has led some to suggest he's being blackballed by the NFL for his national anthem protests last season.
