Phillies' Hoskins becomes 1st player with 10 HR before 20th MLB game
Just call him Rhys Hoskins, major-league record holder.
To say the Philadelphia Phillies rookie has impressed over his first 17 major-league games would be an understatement - and he's showing no signs of slowing down. On Saturday night, Hoskins wasted no time and went deep yet again, hitting his 10th major-league homer some 417 feet off the Cubs' Kyle Hendricks in the first inning to give the Phillies a quick 2-0 lead.
Hoskins now stands alone in baseball history as the only player ever to have hit 10 home runs in his first 20 major-league games - and he did it in game No. 17.
Hoskins, the Phillies' No. 6 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has now homered in four straight games, and eight of his last nine. On Thursday he became one of three players in history to homer eight times in his first 15 big-league contests.
