Apart from the spotlight and increased attention and expectations that will come with Sloane Stephens' breakthrough Grand Slam title, the 24-year-old is taking home a life-changing purse.

The $3.7 million USD she's been awarded for winning the US Open is nearly equal to her entire career earnings before the tournament. Perhaps it's no surprise, then, that Stephens looked so awestruck when the check was handed to her on the podium after Sunday's final.

As Stephens freaked out about the sum enclosed in the envelope, Madison Keys, her friend and vanquished foe, kindly offered to hold it for her.
