Raiders, NFL each donate $50K to Las Vegas victims' fund
The Oakland Raiders and the NFL Foundation will donate $50,000 to the Las Vegas victims' fund, following Sunday's horrific mass shooting.
Stephen Craig Paddock, a 64-year-old accountant, killed 59 people and injured 527 others in the deadliest mass shooting in United States history, reports Sally Ho and Regine Garcia Cano from The Associated Press. Paddock fired from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, using automatic weapons.
The NFL Foundation released the following statement:
The NFL and Oakland Raiders will lend support to the Las Vegas community to support the victims’ families and survivors of the tragedy in Las Vegas.
The NFL Foundation will match the Oakland Raiders’ $50,000 contribution to the Las Vegas Victims’ Fund. Clark County Commissioner Chair Steve Sisolak started the fundraiser to provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the mass shooting. Fans can donate here.
The NFL Foundation will contribute an additional $50,000 to the American Red Cross to assist with blood drives and other relief efforts in Las Vegas.
