J.R. Smith doesn't drink Hennessy, says it's a black stereotype
The Henny God doesn't drink Hennessy?
Cleveland Cavaliers shooting guard J.R. Smith, who is affectionately known for his off-court festivities, said on the Road Trippin' Podcast that he doesn't actually drink Hennessy, and that it's mostly a stereotype of black people.
Channing Frye: "Here is the real question that everybody wants to know: Do you drink Henny?"
J.R. Smith: "No"
Richard Jefferson: "See? Everybody thinks that you drink Hennessy"
Smith: "I know it's like ... "
Jefferson: "You're not a Henny guy"
Smith: "It's like it's like unwritten rule of ... "
Jefferson: "Of being a pro?"
Smith: "No, not being a pro but like just black people I think. They associate Hennesy with black people for whatever reason"
Jefferson: "That's because black people drink Hennessy"
Smith: "They do but damn"
Smith has said on multiple occasions that he no longer drinks liquor - especially Hennessy - but yet his reputation remains what it was dating back to his memorable tenure with the New York Knicks.
