Rockets stun Warriors after Durant's game-winner waved off
The defending champion Golden State Warriors lost on opening night to the Houston Rockets, as Kevin Durant's last-second game-winner was ruled to have come after the final buzzer upon review.
Entering the final frame down 13, Houston launched a furious comeback - with Chris Paul on the bench - after Draymond Green left the game due to a knee injury. The Rockets edged closer and closer before finally taking the lead with 44 seconds left - their first advantage since the game's opening minute - through a pair of free throws from P.J. Tucker.
Golden State had a chance to take back the lead at the very end, but Stephen Curry's wide-open three rimmed out, and Durant's baseline jumper following an offensive rebound was ruled too late after review showed his fingers still on the ball as the buzzer went off.
