Report: 'No chance' Darvish re-signs with Dodgers
While the Los Angeles Dodgers traded away a top farmhand in Willie Calhoun for Yu Darvish midway through the season, an unceremonious end to his tenure in the World Series may preclude the Dodgers from bringing the ace back.
In fact, a rival executive said there's "no chance" the two re-unite, according to a report from Jon Heyman of FanRag Sports.
The Dodgers came within a single victory of winning their first World Series since 1988. However, after another tough outing in Game 7, the Houston Astros won the first championship in their franchise's history.
Darvish failed to make it out of the second inning in both of his World Series starts. Through 3 1/3 total innings, the 31-year-old posted a 21.60 ERA without managing a strikeout.
Darvish did address Dodgers fans Thursday in a complimentary post on his Instagram account, thanking them for their support during his brief time in Los Angeles.
In 186 2/3 innings between the Dodgers and Texas Rangers in the regular season, Darvish posted a 3.86 ERA and 3.83 FIP. The 2017 campaign was his first full season since undergoing Tommy John surgery prior to the 2015 season.
