Report: Stanton won't accept trade to Red Sox, Cardinals

If Giancarlo Stanton is going to be on the move this offseason, it appears two of the previously rumored landing spots for the slugger have been crossed off his list.

Stanton won't accept a trade to the Boston Red Sox or St. Louis Cardinals, a source told the Boston Herald's Chad Jennings.

Both the Red Sox and Cardinals have been linked to the Miami Marlins outfielder, who holds a full no-trade clause, but it appears Stanton would prefer a trade elsewhere.

A Peter Gammons report added that Stanton isn't fascinated by the idea of going to Boston, St. Louis, or San Francisco, for varying reasons.

Another barrier in trading for Stanton is apparently the "shockingly high" prospect asking price from the Marlins, along with the 10 years and $295 million left on his contract.

Apparently, those two issues aren't a stopping point for some teams, as the Giants and Marlins recently discussed trading highly regarded prospect Heliot Ramos in a deal involving Stanton, according to MLB.com's Joe Frisaro.

Stanton is coming off of a MVP-type season, in which he hit .281/.376/.631 with 59 home runs and 132 RBIs. Meanwhile, the Marlins are reportedly looking to lower their payroll before next season.
