Grizzlies' Conley expected to return in 2-3 weeks from heel, Achilles injuries
The Memphis Grizzlies will have to figure out how to win basketball games without Mike Conley's services for just a little while longer.
The 30-year-old point guard has been shelved since Nov. 15 due to soreness in his left heel and Achilles. Memphis announced Wednesday that while Conley has progressed well through his treatment, he's expected to need another two-to-three weeks before being able to return to the lineup.
The team is currently in the midst of an eight-game losing streak, with six of those losses coming sans Conley. Head coach David Fizdale was just recently relieved of his duties, as well, with J.B. Bickerstaff being named the interim coach for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.
The Grizzlies have ranked 29th in offense (97.9 points per 100 possessions) and 19th in defense (105.9 points allowed per 100 possessions) over their last six outings. Their on-off numbers with Conley don't see much of a swing when he's not on the floor, though.
He's shooting just 38.1 percent from the field and 31.2 percent from 3-point range in 12 appearances, which are both career lows, as are his 4.1 assists.
Memphis looks to get back in the win column Wednesday when it visits the AT&T Center to take on its Southwest division rivals in the San Antonio Spurs.
