Report: Padres last of 7 finalists to meet with Ohtani
Save the best for last.
Shohei Ohtani will conclude his round of meetings with the seven reported finalists for his recruitment by sitting down with the San Diego Padres, presumably on Wednesday, reports Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune.
Monday and Tuesday, Ohtani reportedly met with representatives from the Los Angeles Angels, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, and Texas Rangers, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. San Diego seems to be getting a day all to itself, while Ohtani's camp met with three teams each over the previous two days.
The winter meetings start Sunday in Orlando. It remains to be seen whether Ohtani will reach a decision by then, but that could factor heavily into how other events unfold, including the prospective trade of Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton.
