Report: Mets could explore deal for Pirates' Harrison

The New York Mets are in need of a second baseman heading into next season and it appears they have their eyes set on a few targets.

It's been previously reported the Mets were interested in Ian Kinsler of the Detroit Tigers, as well as Jason Kipnis of the Cleveland Indians, but Marc Carig of Newsday reports the Mets could explore a trade for Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Josh Harrison at the winter meetings.

After trading Neil Walker to the Milwaukee Brewers last season, New York gave most of the playing time at second to Gavin Cecchini, who hit .208/.256/.273 in 32 games.

Harrison appeared in 128 games for the Pirates last season, posting his highest OPS (.771) since 2014.

The two-time All-Star also hit 16 home runs, drove in 47, and offers defensive versatility playing all around the field during his career.
