A bettor lost out on a big jackpot Thursday after jockey Emisael Jaramillo fell off his horse, Cryogenic, while leading mere yards away from the finish line at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.
According to the Fresno Bee, Gulfstream Park has adopted a "rainbow" pick-6 policy, which holds prize money over for the next day if there's not a single unique winner. Had Cryogenic, listed at 8-1, not been disqualified Thursday, one bettor would have gone home with $571,744.
Fortunately for Jaramillo, his agent said he suffered no serious injuries from the fall and is expected to be released from the hospital Friday, per Mike Welsch of Daily Racing Form.
