Report: Cubs, Darvish actively talking
It seems like only a matter of time until Yu Darvish has a new home for the 2018 season and as slow as the offseason has been for free-agent movement, Darvish's market has appeared to speed up over the last couple days.
The Chicago Cubs have long been seen as one of Darvish's most logical suitors, and are reportedly actively talking with the right-hander, a source told the Associated Press' Jay Cohen.
The Cubs are not alone, however, as six teams were listed as possible destinations less than two weeks ago, though more have expressed interest. Other teams linked to Darvish include the Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Darvish is seen as the top pitcher left on the free-agent market despite his implosion during the World Series with the Dodgers. Over parts of five seasons, Darvish has gone 56-42 with a 3.42 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and 1,021 strikeouts over 832 1/3 innings.
