Love: Most people were targets in Cavs' heated team meeting
Kevin Love is shedding some light on the Cleveland Cavaliers' infamous team meeting.
The "loud and intense" meeting took place before practice Monday, with members of the team questioning the validity of the unspecified illness that limited Love to just three minutes in Saturday's 148-124 blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
While Love didn't reveal exactly what was said, he did hint he wasn't the only Cavalier scrutinized in the tense gathering.
"Did I feel like a target? I think everybody, most people, were a target," Love said during shootaround Tuesday. "We're trying to figure this thing out. People hold themselves to a very high standard on this team and we're a team that can compete at the highest level.
"For us, it's not about me. I'm not going to make it about myself. I'm sure with other guys it's the same thing. The biggest thing is moving forward. For me, the thing I've always done is kept my mouth shut, and continue to work hard, and try to do best for the Cavs."
He also expressed hope that the event will help the Cavaliers snap out of their current funk. The team has now lost nine of their last 12 games while their defensive rating of 109.8 ranks as the second-worst mark in the league this season.
"Even if it's directed at me or directed at anybody else you just hope that it helps and we can get better from it," Love said. "And I think communication - you know it's funny talking about communication and the lack thereof - maybe yesterday was a really good thing for us.
"You never know. ... We feel like we're too good to be on the kind of streak we're on now."
