Report: Blazers trade Vonleh to Bulls for Rakovic
Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports
The Portland Trail Blazers have traded fourth-year big man Noah Vonleh to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for international journeyman Milovan Rakovic, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The move helps the Blazers get under the luxury-tax threshold, while the rebuilding Bulls acquire a 22-year-old former No. 9 overall pick at no cost.
Vonleh's game has been painfully slow to develop since the Charlotte Hornets drafted him in 2014, but he's a strong rebounder - 12.6 per 36 minutes this season - who may still have untapped upside. He got squeezed in Portland's frontcourt, but should get more opportunity in Chicago before hitting restricted free agency in the summer.
