Report: At least 12 teams have asked Marlins about Realmuto
If the Washington Nationals are going to land J.T. Realmuto from the Miami Marlins, they're going to have to fend off plenty of competition.
The Nationals have been the most heavily linked club to the star catcher this winter, but there's reportedly been at least 12 teams that have had discussions with the Marlins, sources told Joe Frisaro of MLB.com.
Miami is said to want either Victor Robles - the No. 6 prospect in MLB - or Juan Soto (No. 29) from the Nationals, but neither are available in trades. Washington would rather deal its lesser prospects, a group that includes Carter Kieboom (No. 90) and Erick Fedde (N/R).
The Atlanta Braves have also expressed interest in Realmuto recently.
Realmuto requested a trade earlier this offseason following the Marlins' drastic sell-off of their star players. The 26-year-old is coming off the best season of his four-year career, hitting .278/.332/.451 with 17 home runs, 31 doubles, and 65 RBIs in 141 games, while also throwing out 32 percent of base-stealers. He's under contract through 2020.
