In 1936, Major League Baseball announced its first elected class to the Hall of Fame.
Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, and Ty Cobb were the inaugural entrants to Cooperstown, which now boasts a total of 323 members.
Even though the physical hall wasn't built until 1939, these five players' legacies were set in stone and helped pave the way for future Hall of Famers to come.
