Report: Knicks' Hernangomez requests trade
New York Knicks second-year big man Willy Hernangomez has formally requested a trade, sources told Yahoo Sport's Shams Charania.
The 23-year-old is seeking a new situation in which he can take on a larger role and continue his development, Charania reports.
After a promising first season that saw him named to the All-Rookie first team, Hernangomez has struggled to carve out playing time in a crowded Knicks frontcourt that includes Kristaps Porzingis, Enes Kanter, and Kyle O'Quinn.
His minutes have been slashed in half, from 18.4 per game as a rookie to just 9.2 this season, despite the fact he's remained relatively productive (17 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per 36 minutes, on 59 percent true shooting) when he's played.
Several teams have reportedly shown interest in Hernangomez in recent weeks, including the Utah Jazz.
