Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan has signed a contract extension, the team confirmed, according to NHL.com's Tom Gulitti.
News of MacLellan's extension was first reported by Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos during Saturday's Headlines segment.
MacLellan was in the final year of his contract. He has served as GM since being promoted in 2014 after the firing of George McPhee.
Since then, MacLellan has led the Capitals to three straight playoffs - four, once the Capitals clinch this season - including two straight Presidents' Trophies.
