The Rock: 'I saw lots of hungry eyes' during pep talk with Lakers
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was the latest speaker invited to take part in the Los Angeles Lakers' "Genius Talks" program, delivering what president of basketball operations Magic Johnson described as an "inspirational message" before their 112-103 win over the Denver Nuggets.
On Monday, Johnson thanked the Lakers for the opportunity and noted that there were "lots of hungry eyes" in the room while he spoke.
Lakers head coach Luke Walton credited Johnson's talk for motivating Kyle Kuzma to play through an ankle injury he suffered against the Nuggets.
"I put him back in eventually and he helped us close out that game," Walton said, according to Joey Ramirez of NBA.com. "Maybe it was 'The Rock' that motivated him to fight through that injury. Kuzma is a big wrestling fan."
