The New York Jets have selected cornerback Parry Nickerson out of Tulane with the 179th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Nickerson provides nice value for the Jets this late in the draft as a sticky slot corner with 16 career interceptions. He ran a 4.32 at the NFL combine in March.
The former Tulane defensive back adds to the Jets' secondary and will compete for snaps behind starters Trumaine Johnson, Morris Claiborne, and Buster Skrine.

What the analysts are saying
- "Nickerson is tough, smart, and instinctive, but he needs to prove he can hold up as an NFL tackler. He should compete for a role as a nickel cornerback early in his career." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
- "He needs to gain weight and get stronger for taking on NFL receivers, but Nickerson has some speed, which he illustrated that at the combine with an electric 40 time. In the field drills, Nickerson looked fast and fluid. He fits as a slot cornerback competitor." - Charlie Campbell, Walter Football
