The Kansas City Chiefs traded up to select Kahlil McKenzie out of Tennessee with the 198th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

McKenzie is the son of Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie. The Chiefs plan to develop McKenzie as an offensive guard, even though he played defensive tackle in college.

No matter what position he winds up playing, family dinners at the McKenzie household could be a tad awkward going forward.

What the analysts are saying

  • "He has good upper-body power, but needs to do a better job of taking command at the point of attack earlier in the rep. At this point, McKenzie is more of a project than prospect, but there are traits to work with for a team hoping to extract more than what he was able to give the Vols." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
  • "McKenzie was not the difference-maker former Tennessee head coach Butch Jones was hoping for when he lured the much-ballyhooed prospect out of the state of California, but make no mistake: The imposing defensive tackle possesses the raw traits which could earn him a late-round selection, nevertheless." - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com
