Texans use their first pick of draft on Justin Reid in 3rd round

The Houston Texans have selected safety Justin Reid out of Stanford in the third round with the 68th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Reid, the brother of former San Francisco 49ers safety Eric Reid, is the Texans' first pick of the 2018 draft. The Stanford product will likely slot in as a backup in his rookie year behind veterans Tyrann Mathieu and Andre Hal.

Strengths
- Displays good ball skills and is continuing to develop into a dangerous playmaker.
- Is always in pursuit of the ball and does a great job of wrapping up ball-carriers.
- Does a great job of high-pointing the ball and is not intimidated by larger, physical receivers.
- Can play as a deep safety or in the box with equal fluency.
Weaknesses
- Gets caught out of position in pursuit of the ball and sometimes takes questionable routes.
- As a result, will often get baited by ball fakes from quarterbacks and get caught staring.
