The Carolina Panthers selected cornerback Donte Jackson out of LSU in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, 55th overall.
Jackson ran a blistering 4.32 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, and his straight-line speed will serve him well against professional receivers. The former track star can be placed on the outside or in the slot.
Although he'll need to improve his ability to mirror receivers, he's expected to make an immediate contribution to the Panthers.

What the analysts are saying
- "Jackson's athletic traits should ensure that he makes plenty of plays on the ball, but he'll need to develop better route recognition and focus in order to reach his full potential." - Lance Zierlein, NFL.com
- "Jackson has put his speed to good use as a track star for the Tigers, and he’s been just as impressive on the gridiron, breaking up 18 passes over the past two seasons. Some teams may be concerned by his light frame, but if he’s able to add some quality bulk and still retain his fluidity and explosiveness, Jackson could be one of this year’s best values at a premium position." - Luke Easterling, Draft Wire
