The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected wide receiver D.J. Chark out of LSU in the second round with the 61st overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
After losing Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns in the offseason, Chark addresses a major need for the Jaguars in the passing attack.
The senior standout put on a show at the NFL combine, running a blazing 4.34-second 40-yard dash while also posting a vertical jump of 40 inches.
D.J. Chark Bio
Position: WR
School: LSU
College Experience: Senior
Height: 6-3
Weight: 199 lbs
Strengths
- Speed, speed, and more speed. Chark tested as the fastest offensive player at the combine and plays with just as much quickness on the field.
- Ideally sized at 6-foot-3 with long arms. Natural runner with long strides. Rare to see a player with his combination of size and speed.
- Value added on special teams. Can play as a returner and shows willingness to block on offense.
- Doesn't shy away from physical play despite ability to avoid it with speed. Not afraid to go over the middle and take a hit.
Weaknesses
- Did most of his damage on offense with streaks and skinny posts. Wasn't asked to run a full route tree. Made up for sloppy route running with speed.
- Trouble building up speed against press coverage. Needs to find space to get long legs churning. Doesn't have much in his tool box other than speed.
- Upper-body strength is an issue against press coverage and making contested catches.
