The New York Giants have selected guard Will Hernandez out of Texas-El Paso in the second round with the 34th overall pick of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Hernandez was widely considered one of the best offensive linemen in the draft and is a superior pass blocker. After the Giants selected Saquon Barkley with the second overall pick, Hernandez will be expected to play a key role in the running game.
Boasting excellent footwork, Hernandez will likely be a key contributor for a Giants' offensive line that has struggled immensely in recent years.
Will Hernandez Bio
Position: G
School: UTEP

Strengths
- Unusually agile for his size. Combines quick, balanced footwork with thick frame to cover space. Likes to move downfield with the play.

- Aggressive finisher who can stand his ground in pass protection and doesn't move backward when run-blocking. Powerful upper body.
Weaknesses
- Shorter for a guard than teams would prefer. Defenders with above-average wingspan can gain advantage.
- Gets caught trying too hard to land powerful blow off the snap. Loses position hoping for big blocks.
- Can forget to use his natural leverage when blocking downfield. Pops pad level up after initial block.
